The festival events created lifetime memories for the participants and audiences at this year's Slack Key Days Festival. James Keli'ipio Kahea Mawae of Molokai was honored with a Mayoral Proclamation from Kauai mayor Bernard Carvalho. Keli'ipio, 82 years young, continues to be dedicated to perpetuating the family music tradition of Hawaiian slack key music and living Aloha. He is a living treasure of the islands through his work to care for fishing grounds, the land, the people of Moloka'i, and slack key.
